November is from this point on known as Suckvember in our household; Thanksgiving is now known as Sucksgiving. Why you ask? My first cat Callie died of heart disease over Thanksgiving back when I was in college. My cat Harrison passed away last year from heart disease over Thanksgiving. This year? Our betta fish Wally just died of dropsy and my dog Stetson was diagnosed with anal sac adenocarcinoma. So needless to say, screw the 11th month of the year from here on out.
In other less depressing news, we adopted a 6 month old kitten from the Durham Animal Shelter. She came with the name Penny and since she answers to it, we left it alone. She's crazy soft and a total nut. We adopted her because she seemed so sweet and cuddly; we got her home and discovered the mask on her face has been hiding her deviancy. Luckily it only took a few days for my cat Indy to accept her (ie tolerate her) and only a week for her to calmly be in the same room with the dogs.
